Test excavation

In the event that the results of the archaeological potentail analysis suggest a substantive hidden archaeological resource, test excavation works can be a cost effective additional means of clarifying the extent of the requisite archaeological commitment prior to the commencement of more major works.

A test excavation program involving the excvation of a finite number of test pits can be produced and implemented in order to target all potential buildings and features. The results of this can then be added to the Archaeological Method Statement and further works then approved.
